Le rôle de la conception du métalangage sémantique naturel dans la didactique des langues : résultats de la recherche

Głównym celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza i empiryczna weryfikacja teorii z zakresu semantyki językoznawczej zwanej jako naturalny metajęzyk semantyczny (ang. natural semantic metalanguage) dla dydaktyki języków obcych. Rozwijana od lat 70. XX wieku koncepcja, której autorką jest Anna Wierzbicka, opiera się na filozoficznej idei Leibniza, według której każdy człowiek dysponuje zestawem elementarnych jednostek semantycznych (ang. semantic primitives; primes), które pozwalają mu na wyjaśnienie i zrozumienie innych, bardziej skomplikowanych konceptów i idei. Jednostki te są jednocześnie podstawą komunikacji międzykulturowej. W artykule badam obecność i rolę katalogu elementarnych jednostek semantycznych w nauce języków obcych (na przykładzie języka francuskiego jako obcego) w klasie językowej i tym samym rolę naturalnego metajęzyka w komunikacji intrakulturowej. Dane zawarte w badaniu pochodzą z powszechnie używanych podręczników do nauki języka francuskiego oraz dyskursów pisemnych i ustnych utrwalonych na kamerze wideo, których autorami są sami uczący się i które powstały na zajęciach z języka francuskiego.

The aim of this article is to present and verify the role of the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) in foreign language learning and teaching. The NSM is a linguistic theory based on the philosophical idea of Leibniz according to which every human has some elementary and indefinable words in mind which serve him/her to explain and understand other more complex words and ideas. Those simple and indefinable words are called semantic primes and they are at the same time the basis of intercultural communication. In the article, I assume that the catalogue of primes should be very important not only in intercultural communication but also in early stages in studying foreign languages in the classroom and I tend to verify its pertinence in intracultural communication based on French as a foreign language. The data in my study were collected from student books used in formal education and from student texts written in a classroom as well student oral discourses recorded by video camera.
