The objective of this paper is to point out selected issues about the Total Performance Scorecard and its usefulness for Polish universities in performance measurement as well as in support in making decisions about the goals of employees and in helping them in personal develop. The carried out research, which small part is presented in this paper, indicates that current way of universities management is not really helping employees in their development as well as it does not take into account the needs of employees (specially while personal goals are set) and what’s worst it can have an impact on their considerations of resignation of work. The research shows that the Total Performance Scorecard seems to be adequate for the universities. It is because this concept assumes that continuous improvement, development and learning, not only of the organization itself, but its employees as well, are very important elements of effective management of an economic unit and universities required continuous develop from their employees.
