This article applies to managerial competence and their role in the effective staff management. The studies, which selected results are presented in this article, have been focused on the identification of competencies of Polish managers that play a key role in building and implementing the processes of change in companies. The quality of the management determines, in a crucial manner, the success of the organization, which is determined by a competent managerial staff. Redeployment, retraining and acquiring new competencies is a fairly common element of human capital management, applicable towards newly hired employees, as well as towards those with experience. Increasing qualifications and acquiring new competencies is the realization of expectations towards employees as well as the implementation of the expectations of employees towards the company.
