The purpose of the dissertation, entitled Patterns of Mother and Motherhood in Grand Dutchy of Posen women's magazines at the turn of the 20th century, is to show how the mother’s and motherhood’s pattern was evolving in Poznań women's press under the influence of the intensifying Polish-German national conflict, and what content was incorporated into it. The literature claims that there was one common pattern of “The Polish Mother Patriot” and it was subordinated to the national mission. The purpose of the dissertation is to demonstrate that the point of view published in the women's press does not allow such an explicit statement, while at that time the discourse on mothers and motherhood itself was dominated by the "national mission" of women. However, it was postulative. Indeed, on the pages of the analyzed magazines, the need for change arose from the changes in civilization. At moments when anti-polish policies intensified and successive anti-polish laws had come into force, certain elements of the vision of modern motherhood were reinterpreted by women for national needs.
