Celem artykułu jest ukazanie ewolucji zadań i profilu służby polskiego kontyngentu wojskowego (PKW) w misji UNIFIL prowadzonej od 1978 r. w Libanie Południowym w okresie 1992–2021. Początkowo PKW tworzyła kompania medyczna zabezpieczająca w tym względzie medycznie cały personel misji, po rozbudowaniu w 1994 r. PKW poszerzył swój zakres działalności o obszar logistyki przez kompanię remontową i inżynieryjną. Od 2007 r., po zaognieniu sytuacji w regionie, kompania manewrowa PKW przystąpiła do wykonywania zadań operacyjnych w batalionie hiszpańsko-polskim. Po dziesięcioletniej przerwie w 2019 r. PKW powrócił do misji UNIFIL, polska kompania manewrowa w batalionie irlandzko-polskim patroluje część strefy buforowej ONZ. Powrót do misji kontyngentu nie był łatwy, wymagał wieloletnich zabiegów prowadzonych przez polską stronę. W artykule postawiono hipotezę mówiącą, że powrót Polski do uczestniczenia w misjach pokojowych ONZ jest sukcesem w wymiarze politycznym, dyplomatycznym prestiżowym, jak również militarnym. Przeprowadzono analizę skuteczności działań polityków i wojskowych na rzecz powrotu PKW do misji ONZ oraz skuteczności działań PKW. Jako metodę wykorzystano krytyczną analizę literatury i innych materiałów.
Purpose: to analyze and show the evolution of the tasks and service profile of the Polish military contingent (PKW) in the UNIFIL mission conducted since 1978 in Lebanon in the afternoon, 1992-2021. Initially, the PMC was formed as a medical company providing medical support for the entire mission staff in this respect, after expanding in 1994, the PMC expanded its scope of activity to include the area of logistics by a repair and engineering company. Since 2007, after the situation in the region has inflamed, the maneuvering company of the Polish Military Contingent started to perform operational tasks in the Spanish-Polish Battalion. After a ten-year break in 2019, the PMC returned to the UNIFIL mission, the Polish maneuver company in the Irish-Polish Battalion patrols part of the UN buffer zone. The return to the mission of the contingent was not easy, it required many years of efforts by the Polish side. The problem: analysis of the effectiveness of politicians’ and military’s actions for the return of the PMC to the UN mission and the effectiveness of the PMC’s activities. Method: critical analysis of literature and other materials. Hypothesis: Poland’s return to participate in UN peacekeeping missions is a success in the political, diplomatic, prestige and military dimensions.
